Calgary Pointing Dog Club – Field Trail

It’s been a busy month for field trials. After attending the GSP & Brittnay club trials earlier this month, we attended the CPDC Trial west of Calgary this weekend. Janna is quickly becoming a seasoned veteran, while Jassen’s butt is still getting shaped to the saddle. Janna ran Valentine in the Derby stakes on Sunday, but went without a placement. Her brace mate Savannah, (a Brittany Spaniel owned by Harvey Linville) placed 4th.

Janna was also fortunate enough to get to play with Manette & Mike Jone’s Muff. Dunfur’s Diver “Muff” a well seasoned field trial dog took 2nd place in the Limited Amateur Stake. Other Shorthair’s were not as well behaved and went on a bit of a “walk about” but were safely returned home, although more tired than they wanted to be.

Janna finished out the weekend with a judging assignment in the puppy stakes on Monday. Jassen spent the weekend marshaling both the Limited Amateur and Limited Open stakes. Thanks to Doug Mackenzie and Don Nelson for the use of their horses.

Thanks to Dennis & Bonnie Hidalgo of Firefly Farm & Kennel. Both were kind enough to share their judging knowledge with us. Thanks to their sale of well trained horses to other field trial competitors, we were able to talk Don Nelson out of his horses. Now we just need to make space for 2 more mouths at home.
